January, 2013 EIM-EED Classes

The Ecumenical Institute for Ministry (EIM) through its Ecumenical Education for Discipleship (EED) program is offering two special courses this coming January:

“Like A Hammer Shattering Rock”

with Dr. Megan McKenna

A three week course on the gospels Mark, Matthew and Luke … then and now.  The course will meet on Wednesday evenings, January 9, 16 and 23 from 6:30-9:00 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa, NE, Albuquerque, 87110.

Course Description: Renowned Catholic author Megan McKenna celebrates the publication of her 50th book, Like A Hammer Shattering Rock: Hearing the Gospels Today, with an exciting new interpretation of the Gospels and what they can mean to both the church and society. The course will explore the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke looking at what would have shocked Jesus’ contemporaries and the early Christians while raising questions about why these same issues aren’t shocking us now. The class will be a call to renewal of our connections with these core Christian writings, and conversion by hearing Jesus’ words anew.

Leadership: The course will be taught by Dr. Megan McKenna who is a renowned author on biblical and spiritual themes. Dr. McKenna travels the world as a lecturer, retreat leader and storyteller. She works with many groups bringing a focus on peace and justice to the spiritual dimensions of our contemporary faith.

The cost for the course is $40 for all three evenings, or $20 each for select evenings. Scholarships are available.
